The history of Vancleef & Arpels watches
In 1896 Vancleef & Arpels was founded in Paris by Alfred Van Cleef and his uncle, Salomon Arpels. The Maison was founded in 1906 between Estelle’s brother Charles. The two of them opened up a boutique in Place Vendome in Paris, which was opposite the Ritz Hotel. Van Cleef & Arpels had continuously employed a wide range of precious stones in their jewellery, including diamonds and sapphires.
Van Cleef & Arpels had a record of creating jewellery for royalty, celebrities and lavishly wealthy people.
